Our first story: Don Quixote and the Windmills Adventure

Don Quixote of La Mancha:
Dear friends, for this project we’ve chosen a very special story. It’s not a tale itself, but in our country it’s so well known that everybody can tell it and it became one of our most popular stories.
It was originally written by Miguel de Cervantes in 17th. century.  This incredibly fun novel tells the story of a man who becomes so crazy about reading knight books that finally he decides to be a knight himself.
The problem is that he lives in La Mancha, a very plain and huge region in central Spain. So he doesn’t have dragons, evils or giants to fight or princesses to save.
Nobody seems to understand him, but he is so brave that he lives a lot of incredible adventures.
The adventure with the windmills:
One morning, Don Quixote was crossing a typical La Mancha landscape with his helper Sancho. The knight was wearing his armour  . He rode his thin horse Rocinante while Sancho rode a donkey.
Everything was plane around them; no trees, no hills, no houses…Just a few windmills on a hill.
Don Quixote said: “We are very lucky, Sancho. Adventure came to us again. We have to fight these giants!”
Sancho replied “What giants do you mean, my sir?”
“Are you blind? These horrible ones on the top of the hill!”, said Don Quixote.
“Oh, my sir” tried to explain Sancho “what you call giants are only windmills!”
“Can’t you see them moving their arms?”
“Oh, sir! What you call arms are the windmill’s blades!”
Don Quijote started to get angry with poor Sancho. “I think you are a coward. If you are afraid of the giants, just say your prayers. I will fight alone against all the giants!”
Don Quixote prepared his weapons and ran directly to the windmills.
“Now you will know the power of my sword!” He cried out.
But when he reached the windmills he crashed into them. He felt down and laid on the floor seriously ill.
Sancho came to his side as fast as he could.
“Can’t you see, my poor sir, they are not giants at all! Only windmills!”
Don Quixote replied from the floor:
“Dear Sancho. They were giants, but my greatest enemy, Frestón the magician, turned them into windmills”.
Sancho helped his master and together again they followed the way to their new adventure.

welcome to our blog!
This will be the place to share all the result and to exchange  information about our project. We have to build it together day by day, so every comment and idea is welcome. For a start, we would like to shar with you some pictures about the wonderful experiences that we shared in our recent meeting in Móstoles/Madrid. Enjoy!
